The front weakens away on Monday, as a ridge builds over the South Island. On Tuesday, a low from the north moves southwards to lie to the east of the upper North Island, while a second low in the Tasman Sea extends a front across the upper North Island. On Wednesday, the first low moves away to the east, while the second low tracks eastwards and becomes slow-moving over the upper North Island. Forecast issued at 0324hrs Sunday 19-May-2024 Valid to 7 am Sunday for Inshore waters from Lyttelton Harbour to the Waimakariri River mouth. Sunday: Southwest 10 knots, turning northeast 10 knots this morning, then rising to 15 knots for a time this afternoon. Easing to variable 5 knots overnight. Sea slight.
