    Recreational Marine: Coromandel
    Marine Weather Situation and Forecast issued at 2030hrs Friday 17-May-2024 by MetService

    Situation:
    A front moves onto the far south today, while a ridge of high pressure develops elsewhere over Aotearoa/New Zealand. The front moves slowly north across the South Island during Saturday and Sunday, weakening away on Monday while the ridge remains elsewhere. On Tuesday, a low in the Tasman Sea extends a front across the upper North Island.

    Forecast issued at 1627hrs Friday 17-May-2024
    Valid to 8 pm Friday for Inshore waters from Great Mercury Island to Mayor Island to Matakana Island.
    Friday: Variable 5 knots. Sea smooth. Mainly fine but fair visibility in isolated showers. Northeast swell half a metre, rising to 1 metre.
    Saturday: Variable 5 knots. Sea smooth. Partly cloudy. Northeast swell 1 metre.

    Outlook until midnight Tuesday:
    Sunday: Southeast 10 knots. Fine. Northeast swell 1 metre.
    Monday: Southeast 10 knots. Fine. Northeast swell 1 metre.
    Tuesday: Easterly 10 knots, rising to 20 knots early. Cloud increasing, rain
    developing late. Northeast swell 1 metre, rising to 2.5 metres, then
    easing to 2 metres.
