    Recreational Marine: Northland
    Marine Weather Situation and Forecast issued at 2030hrs Friday 17-May-2024 by MetService

    Situation:
    A front moves onto the far south today, while a ridge of high pressure develops elsewhere over Aotearoa/New Zealand. The front moves slowly north across the South Island during Saturday and Sunday, weakening away on Monday while the ridge remains elsewhere. On Tuesday, a low in the Tasman Sea extends a front across the upper North Island.

    Forecast issued at 1627hrs Friday 17-May-2024
    Valid to 8 pm Friday for The Bay of Islands and inshore waters from Cape Brett to the Poor Knights Islands to Bream Head.
    Friday: Southeast 10 knots. Sea slight. Cloudy periods. Northeast swell half a metre, rising to 1 metre.
    Saturday: Southeast 10 knots, turning southeast 10 knots in the afternoon. Sea slight. Fine. Fair visibility in a few evening showers. Northeast swell 1 metre.

    Outlook until midnight Tuesday:
    Sunday: Southeast 15 knots. Fine. Northeast swell 1 metre.
    Monday: Easterly 15 knots. Cloudy, occasional rain developing later.
    Northeast swell 1 metre, rising to 2 metres late.
    Tuesday: Northeast 20 knots, becoming westerly 15 knots late. Rain. Northeast
    swell 2 metres, easing to 1 metre.
