The Mainland Tactix have ground out a tense 61-60 victory over the Northern Stars in overtime in their ANZ Premiership season opener in Palmerston North

The Tactix held their composure in extra time after the scores were locked at 55-all after regulation time.

Elsewhere, the Southern Steel and Central Pulse have also recorded first up wins.

The defending champion Steel have beaten the Northern Mystics 55-47, while the Pulse have eased past the Waikato/Bay of Plenty Magic 45-33.



Scott McLaughlin has made it two wins from two races at the latest Australian Supercars event in Perth.

The Kiwi driver astonishingly started in 19th position on the grid but showed his class to pick up his fifth win of the season.

David Reynolds crossed the finish line in second, with Craig Lowndes third.
