A law firm is taking up the fight for a Christchurch community facing off over a liquor store

Liquorland has appealed the District Licensing Committee's decision to decline their application for a bottle-store in Phillipstown.
But Canterbury Community Law supervising solicitor, John Sullivan, says there's a lot of opposition to the store, including rom many in the community, the police, medical officer of health and Council licensing inspectors.
He says the highly-deprived community already has a liquor store about 50-metres from the newly proposed one.
John Sullivan says locals are outraged by the appeal - and wouldn't be able to afford legal representation to battle it without the community law firm.
