A Te Kuiti ewe by the name of Suzy could be about to make her way into the record books - as the world's woolliest sheep

A Te Kuiti ewe by the name of Suzy could be about to make her way into the record books - as the world's woolliest sheep

The feral crossbred with extremely long wool will be shorn for the first time at The Wool Shed in Masterton today.

She'll be hand-shorn by world record holder Peter Casserly, who also did the honours for Shrek - the famous merino found at Bendigo Station back in 2004.

The Wool Shed trust chairman Gavin Tankersley says they'll be putting Suzy forward to the Guinness Book of Records.

But he says because she is a crossbred, her total fleece weight is unlikely to beat the world record held by 'Chris the Sheep' in Canberra.
