New Year's Eve is set to be a scorcher for much of the country

New Year's Eve is set to be a scorcher for much of the country

Most North Island regions are expected to be soaked in sunshine, particularly in the early afternoon.

The South Island will be on the cooler side, with a spot of rain in Fiordland.

MetService's Aidan Pyselman says the upper North Island will reach the mid-twenties, and the South Island's warmest spot will be Blenheim, on 25.
