Fire crews are battling a well-involved house fire on Liverpool Street, in Levin

A fire and emergency spokesperson says the blaze was reported about 2.20 this afternoon.

Five appliances are on the scene, with support from the Waitarere Beach and Shannon volunteer fire brigades.

Crews have also requested an aerial fire truck, which is coming from Palmerston North.

A photo from the scene shared on Facebook shows smoke and large flames billowing out of the house's second storey-window.

It's understood the house is unoccupied..
