A major highway on the West Coast remains closed this morning

A major highway on the West Coast remains closed this morning

State Highway 73 between Jacksons and Kumara has been shut since 11.30 yesterday, after a slip left rocks, vegetation, trees and mud covering the road.

There are detour roads from Greymouth to Stillwater and Lake Brunner to Jacksons, however, the Lewis Pass is being used for most trucks.

Waka Kotahi expects the road will be cleared by 10am.
