Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger still "love each other deeply".

The 'Complicated' singer split from the Nickelback frontman last September after two years of marriage, but the 31-year-old star insists they will always be close, both personally and professionally.

She said: "We started working together in the studio, and we do still work together, and we've maintained our friendship like we love each other deeply.

"And that's something we want to keep, and that's important to us."

The pair walked the red carpet at last night's (03.04.16) Juno awards at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Canada, together after Chad asked Avril to be his "date", two months after the attended a Grammy Awards party together.

Chad told Etalk: "She asked me if I wanted to come with her to one of the Grammy parties and I said yeah sure.

"So we did that and that was fun, so I said 'You want to come to the Junos and be my date?' And she said, 'OK, sure!' "

Avril added: "I came with Chad because Nickelback got nominated. And I'm just here supporting him."

The 41-year-old rocker - whose group's 'No Fixed Address' lost out in the Rock Album of the Year category to Death From Above 1979's 'The Physical World' - was thrilled to have the "hottie" on his arm for the evening.

He said: "I got tired walking around with my band members, so I went and found hottie here."

Meanwhile, Avril is slowly "getting her life back" after Lyme disease saw her bedridden for five months last year.

She said: "I'm feeling so much better.

"And so it's nice to be able to do things like come to the Junos and ease my way back into it.

"I'm grateful to have Chad and his support. And the support of my family this past year, and just to be getting my life back really."
