Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex are to visit Nigeria

The Duke of Sussex, 39, will jet back to his native UK for a flying visit next month to attend a service at St Paul's Cathedral in London to mark the 10th anniversary of his Invictus Games on May 8 and it's now been revealed he will then head off to Nigeria for a joint visit with his wife

Nigerian defence spokesman Brigadier General Tukur Gusau told Guardian.ng: "During their stay in the country, they will be meeting with service members and will be hosted to arrays of cultural activities [sic]."

He also revealed the Prince will be discussing the possibility of Nigeria hosting the Invictus Games in the future after the country joined the event for the first time last year.

It's believed Harry will be heading to the UK alone before jetting to Nigeria to meet up with his wife for the joint visit. It's his first trip back to the UK from his home in California since he made a dash back in February to see his father King Charles following the monarch's cancer diagnosis.

News of the Nigeria trip comes after the couple previously spent time with the Nigerian team during the Invictus Games in Dusseldorf, Germany last year and Harry used a speech at the event to reveal Meghan was supporting the country at the event after discovering she has Nigerian heritage.

He said: "Now, I'm not saying we play favourites in our home, but since my wife discovered she's of Nigerian descent, it's likely to get a little bit more competitive this year."

Meghan previously revealed she had taken a genealogy test which revealed her Nigerian roots. Opening up about the discovering on her 'Archetypes' podcast, she explained: "I just had my genealogy done a couple of years ago. I am 43 per cent Nigerian ...

"I'm going to start to dig deeper into all of this because anyone that I have told, especially Nigerian women are just like: 'What?'"
