Michael Jackson's children honour late singer's birthday

Michael Jackson's children have honoured the late singer's memory today (29.08.12) on what would have been his 54th birthday.

Prince, 15, Paris, 14, and 'Blanket', 10, went on a family trip to the music legend's boyhood home in Gary, Indiana, along with their aunt La Toya Jackson and the trio's co-guardians, grandmother Katherine Jackson and their cousin TJ Jackson, TMZ reports.

A candlelight tribute to the 'Beat It' hitmaker - who died in June 2009 aged 50 - will be held at 9pm this evening outside his boyhood home at 2300 Jackson Street as part of a four-day tribute to the singer, entitled 'Goin' Back to Indiana: Can You Feel It', which will take place from today until Saturday (01.09.12).

Other planned events include a baseball game at the home of Indiana's Gary SouthShore RailCats tomorrow (30.08.12), where Michael's children are expected to throw the first pitch and receive honourary team kits.

Karen Freeman-Wilson, the Mayor of Gary, will host a special dinner on Friday (31.08.12) to commemorate the life of the King of Pop as well as honour Michael's mother Katherine, and a tribute concert will take place on Saturday at the local West Side Theatre Guild.

Michael died from acute Propofol intoxication in June 2009, and his personal physician Dr. Conrad Murray is currently serving a jail sentence for the singer's involuntary manslaughter.
