    War Horse cast confirmed

Steven Spielberg’s ‘War Horse’ has a confirmed cast including Jeremy Irvine, Peter Mullan and Emily Watson.

The cast for Steven Spielberg’s ‘War Horse’ has been announced.

The legendary director has picked relative unknown Jeremy Irvine to play lead character Albert in the novel adaptation, with his parents played by ‘Trainspotting’ star Peter Mullan and ‘Miss Potter’ actress Emily Watson, Empire online has revealed.

Other talent lined up for roles in the film include Davie Thewlis, Benedict Cumberbatch and ‘This is England’ star Stephen Graham.

‘War Horse’ – a novel written by Michael Morpurgo – has been adapted by ‘Billy Elliot’ writer Michael Morpurgo for the big screen.

The book tells the tale of Albert (Irvine) and his friendship with farm horse Joey, who is sent off to fight in France during World War I.

‘War Horse’ has already been adapted for the London stage by Nick Stafford.

A week ago it had been claimed ‘Savage Grace’ and ‘The Other Boleyn Girl’ star Eddie Redmayne was being lined up to play Albert in the film.

‘War Horse’ is due for release in 2011.
