Kasabian to close Isle of Wight Festival

British rockers Kasabian are to close the 2011 Isle of Wight Festival, joining the current line-up which includes Foo Fighters, Kings of Leon and reformed iconic 90s Britpop band Pulp.

Kasabian are to close the 2011 Isle of Wight Festival.

The British band – who were named Best Act In The World Today at the recent Q Awards - have joined the festival's current line-up, which already includes Foo Fighters, Kings of Leon and reformed Britpop band Pulp.

John Giddings, promoter for the event, explained: "We wanted the kings of rock ‘n’ roll every night for our tenth birthday and the choices were obvious.

"Kasabian have reignited UK rock music and taken the mantle, long may they reign. It will be a riotous crowd-pleasing end to the weekend and I think that Jimi Hendrix would approve of our choices!”

The 'Fire' hitmakers closed the Virgin Media V Festival in August after performing a set which included covers of classic tracks by the likes of Donna Summer and Salt N' Pepa.

The 2011 event is to take place from June 10 to 12 at the Seaclose Park venue on the British island.
