    Lucy Liu's animated challenge

Lucy Liu found it "challenging" to play an animated tree viper in 'Kung Fu Panda 2' but "connected" with it after it was complete.

Lucy Liu has said that voicing an animated character was “wonderful but challenging”.

The 43-year-old actress – best known for her part in the 2000's ‘Charlie’s Angels’ trio alongside Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore – said that she “loves and connects with” new kids movie ‘Kung Fu Panda 2’.

She said: “I think that working on an animated series or movie – anything with a voiceover – is challenging because you don’t get the chance to work with the other actors.

“But there’s something very wonderful and free about working to your own schedule, in whatever city you like. It makes your life a lot simpler. When I watched the movie myself I connected to it and loved it so much, and I couldn’t imagine that anyone else wouldn’t feel the same way.”

Lucy, who voices a green tree viper in the animated 3-D sequel, also revealed that recording the action sounds with director Jennifer Yuh Nelson left her looking “goony”.

She added to Collider.com: “You’re jumping around doing all the action stuff, making crazy sounds, you look kind of goony – and it’s all for the sake of the movie!

“But Jennifer was wonderful and easy to work with. She had been very much involved with the first movie, so she knew all the ins and outs of how it should work.”
