Colin Farrell is thrilled about his mother's upcoming wedding.

Rita Farrell is set to marry Hollywood producer Joel Michaels, who has worked on movies including 'Basic Instinct 2' and 'Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines', in Los Angeles in June and Colin, 35, is overjoyed his mother has found love again.

A source told Ireland's Sunday Independent newspaper: "Everyone is delighted for Rita. She is incredibly happy and it's going to be a very special day out for the whole family.

"Colin is extremely close to his mother and he is delighted she has found love again after so many years. It's a new chapter for in her life.

"She separated from Colin's father many years ago but going out again in Hollywood to parties with Colin has given her a new lease of life."

The wedding will be attended by a small group of friends and family including Rita's other children Eamon, Claudine and Catherine, just over a year after Rita and Joel first started dating.

The insider said: "They've been dating for over a year at this stage. My thoughts are they will eventually settle down in Hollywood but they are very, very private about the whole thing."

"There will be no magazine deal, no pictures. I'm sure the press will be trying their best to get a shot of the ceremony but they have everything well under wraps."
