Denise Richards is hoping to extend her custody of Bob and Max Sheen.

The actress has temporary care of ex-husband Charlie Sheen's four-year-old twins and is set to head to court in Los Angeles today (07.05.13) for an emergency hearing where the County of Department of Children & Family Services will ask a judge to extend her temporary custody.

Bob and Max were removed from the care of their mother, Charlie's third wife Brooke Mueller, last week when she was placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold in a Los Angeles hospital, amid allegations her drug use had resulted in an "unsafe environment".

A source told RadarOnline.com: "Denise isn't required to be in court, but she plans on being there to convey to the judge how serious she is about being Bob and Max's temporary guardian.

"Lawyers for Brooke Mueller and Charlie Sheen are also expected to attend the hearing, which will be closed to the public.

"Social workers are going to ask the judge to extend Denise's custody of the boys for the next 30 days, at least."

Brooke has reportedly given her blessing for Denise - who is Charlie's second wife, and has daughters Sam, nine, and Lola, seven, with him as well as adopted daughter Eloise, two - to look after Bob and Max.

Brooke, 35, left UCLA Medical Center on Friday (03.05.13) after two days, but has since reportedly gone back to the facility to receive treatment for "prescription drug abuse".

The source added: "Bob and Max won't be placed back in Brooke's care until officials feel that they will be safe in her care. Brooke is going to have jump through hoops to get them back. Going to rehab is not going to be enough. She has been nineteen times in the past, and currently getting treatment for the twentieth time.

"The boys are thriving in Denise's house, and since Charlie lives in the same gated community, he has been spending more time with them."
