Daniel Radcliffe says drunk people confess their problems to him.

The 'Harry Potter' actor - who gave up alcohol in 2010 after drinking to excess while filming the latter half of the eight-film wizard saga - often finds he emotionally "provokes" intoxicated fans into revealing their troubles and believes it is his celebrity status which makes people so open and honest towards him.

He said: " I've been people's confidant in pubs. Somebody will be drunk and start telling you something about their relationship with their parents. You can end up provoking a huge range of reactions."

The 23-year-old star shot to fame when he was just 11 as Harry Potter but, despite the franchise's huge success, he is still shocked when people tell him how much of an impact he has had on their childhood and it makes him angry when people assume he is just another "child-star pr**k".

He told the Telegraph Review magazine: "The most wonderful thing I hear is people coming up and saying, 'Thank you for my childhood,' which still blows my mind but it's very sweet. When people say, 'What's it like to be associated with such a big franchise?' I say, 'It's very easy when your franchise is something that is so loved.

"I feel like 'child-star pr**k' is the image many people have of actors who started young; that's the stereotype you're coming up against."
