Beyoncé brought Jay Z to a strip club after he proposed.

The 'XO' hitmaker, who has always been extremely private about her relationship with her rapper husband of almost six years and initially refused to confirm they got married in a secret ceremony in New York City in April 2008, has revealed he popped the question to her on his birthday on December 4, 2007.

The 32-year-old star brought him to the avant-garde cabaret club, Crazy Horse, to celebrate the occasion and the visit inspired her new music video, 'Partition.'

In her fourth YouTube mini-documentary entitled 'Liberation,' explaining her new music and videos, Beyoncé said: "The day that I got engaged was my husband's birthday, and I took him to Crazy Horse and I remember thinking 'Damn, these girls are fly.' I just thought it was the ultimate sexy show. I was like, 'I wish I was up there, I wish I could perform that for my man.' So that's what I did for the video."

The 'Pretty Hurts' hitmaker, whose self-titled fifth solo album was released on iTunes with no warning last month and sold an astonishing 828,773 digital copies in just three days, is eager to show that she is still fun and sexy in her new music videos for her 'visual album' after slimming down to 130 lbs. since giving birth to the couple's daughter, Blue Ivy, who turns two on Tuesday.

She said: "Just because you become a mother it doesn't mean you lose who you are.

"I was very aware of the fact that I was showing my body. I was 195 pounds when I gave birth. I lost 65 pounds. I worked crazily to get my body back. I wanted to show my body. I wanted to show that you can have a child and you can work hard and you can get your body back."
