    Grass fires have forced the closure of State Highway 8 between Twizel and Tekapo in the South Island


    Fire and Emergency says a truck that was on fire sparked a number of blazes in tussock and scrub.

    The truck caught fire near the intersection of State Highway 8 and State Highway 80 - the main road to Mt Cook.

    Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
