    Michael Jackson’s Peter Pan tears

Michael Jackson broke down in tears and begged to be given the role of Peter Pan – the boy who never grew up – in a stage musical.

Michael Jackson begged to play Peter Pan in a London musical.

The ‘Thriller’ star – who died of a suspected cardiac arrest last month – became overwhelmed with emotion when he met theatre director Sir Trevor Nunn to seek advice on his tour in the 80s and learned he had staged performances about the story of the boy who never grew up.

Trevor revealed: “He said he wanted to be able to fly over the audience and I said, ‘That's not a problem. There’s no difficulty I had people flying over the audience when I did ‘Peter Pan’.’ It was like I had pressed a button that would give him an electric shock - everything changed.

“He sat bolt upright and the excitement was just overwhelming, he jumped up, he walked round the room, he kept repeating, ‘Peter Pan, oh my god, Peter Pan.’

“I explained we had done the show in London using adult actors to play the children and suddenly his eyes were brimful with tears and he came across the room and he knelt down in front of me and he grabbed my knees and he said, ‘Could I play Peter Pan? Is it too late for me to play Peter Pan?’ ”

Meanwhile, Uri Geller, a former friend of Michael’s, has revealed he confronted the singer about his drug taking after finding him passed out one day.

Speaking on TV documentary ‘My Friend Michael Jackson: Uri’s Story’, the psychic spoon bender said: “I’ve never seen him take anything, but I’ve seen the aftermath and the aftermath sometimes was devastating.

“I couldn’t wake Michael up one day. I grabbed his body and I kind of tried to wake him up. I was really concerned. I said, ‘Michael what have you done, what have you taken? Michael open your eyes, are you OK?’

“There were moments when we tried to forcefully explain to him that he can’t go on with this. And he would say, ‘Don’t tell me, this is my private life, stop, stop there.’ ”

On another occasion, Uri confronted his friend after finding him motionless in bed and believes Michael knew one day his addiction to prescription medications would end his life.

He added: “I really shouted, ‘Michael, Michael stop it, Michael you will die, you’re killing yourself. Look at you, the world needs you, nobody wants to lose you.’

“And he was there in bed and he just stared at me and you know, I’m sure he knew of course, I’m sure he knew but only God knows now why, why he did this.”
