Khloe Kardashian "genuinely loves" her "soulmate" Lamar Odom.

The 31-year-old reality star - who is in a relationship with James Harden - still cares for her estranged husband and wants the best for him following his near-fatal collapse in a Las Vegas brothel last October, but she insists they are just friends.

She said: "I do believe that we're soulmates, but right now, that's not even where my head is at. I'm more of a from a friend standpoint.

"I genuinely love him and I genuinely want him to be healthy and happy and all of that, like I would any of my family members or loved ones, so that's at a place where I'm coming from.

"I think people, they don't understand the severity of everything, and, like, that's not even a factor. But me knowing or thinking that Lamar was my soul mate before any of this happened...you know, things change and life gets in the way and that's OK.

"It's all about his health and my happiness and his happiness. Right now those are two individual things."

The 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians' star recalled how "scary" it was when she flew to Lamar's bedside and was warned he only had hours to live, but she's thankful he has battled back and hopes he will continue to do so.

Speaking on 'Good Morning America', she said: "It was really scary. When we got to the hospital in Vegas, we were told, you know, 'There's only a few hours to live.' We had to make some medical decisions.

"There was a lot of challenges, but he's a fighter, and obviously, he's here now and he's out of the hospital. That's a long stay -- almost four months in the hospital. But it's a long journey -- it will be a long journey -- but as long as he's willing to fight it and constantly better himself, then that's all I could ask for."
