    Pink Floyd release Apple app

Pink Floyd have released their first ever official Apple application, with historical information on the band’s activities for every day of the year.

Pink Floyd have released their first ever official Apple application.

The legendary psychedelic rockers have released their This Day in Pink Floyd app, an almanac which gives the users information on the band’s activities for every day of the year – including historical concert information, studio recording dates, TV performances, dates of album releases and other special events.

The app also includes the Pink Floyd quiz with hundreds of interactive quiz questions and hundreds of Pink Floyd Trivia facts. It also has song notes for every album, including a detailed critique of all 167 studio track the band released commercially, plus non-album and miscellaneous tracks.

The app also includes a free ringtone of the band's track ‘Shine on you Crazy Diamond’.

The legendary 'Another Brick in the Wall' band have been officially defunct since 1996, although they have reformed for a few one-off charity shows - notably at Live 8 in 2005 - but drummer Nick Mason recently ruled out any possibility of them going into the studio and recording again.

He said: "I think there's no chance of going back into the studio, because that would be a waste of everyone's time.

"It takes so long to make a recording, which is sort of devalued, as a lot of records have been. They're downloaded for nothing, so you end up spending a year working on something that was just a giveaway."

The band's remaining three members - Nick, guitarist David Gilmour and bassist Roger Waters - may have had disputes in the past, but relations between them have thawed in recent times, with all three of them reunited onstage in May at a performance of their album 'The Wall' by Roger in London.

The This Day in Pink Floyd app costs can be downloaded now for a cost of £1.99 for iPhone, iPad and iPod.
