Ice-T has defended people’s right to carry guns

The rapper doesn’t believe there is a link to the easy availability of guns in the US and the deadly cinema rampage in Denver, Colorado on Friday morning (20.07.12) in which 12 people died and 59 were injured during a screening of 'The Dark Knight Rises'.

When asked about a possible link, he told Channel 4: “No. Not really . . . really. You know what I'm saying, if somebody wants to kill people, you know, they don't need a gun to do it.

“You can strap explosives on your body, they do that all the time.

“It's legal in the United States. It's part of our Constitution. You know, the right to bear arms is because that's the last form of defense against tyranny. Not to hunt. It's to protect yourself from the police."

Ice-T also revealed he carries guns when in the US and will stop "when everybody does. “

He added: “Doesn't that make sense? If there were guns here, would you want to be the only person without one?"
