Daniel Craig was "shaken up" by fame

The 'Skyfall' actor - who is married to Rachel Weisz - admits signing up to play James Bond was hard for him because he had previously mostly starred in indie films, and it took him some time to adjust to being an A-list star.

He said: "It threw me for a loop, quite honestly. It really shook me up and made me look at the world in a different way. It changed my life.

"It just confused the hell out of me. Fame and fortune, for want of a better expression, is scary. My background is not well off. And there aren't many people you can ask for advice about dealing with that."

The 44-year-old star likes to purchase nice things for himself but is careful never to lose his head to the money he has made.

He told Esquire magazine: "I couldn't find a lot of fun in fame. I'm not very materialistic. I mean, I love nice things, but I care about what is going on in my head you know? So trying to get that straight really has been, it's been...

"You know, there's that great expression, 'Know thyself'? I think I probably stopped knowing myself for a few years. And really, you've got to find your own way back."
