Tom Daley has beaten David Beckham to be named Hottest Hunk of 2013.

The British Olympic diver topped the annual poll by Heat magazine, beating the soccer player - last year's champion - into third place behind hulky actor Channing Tatum.

The 18-year-old - who is currently giving celebrities diving lessons on TV show 'Splash' - said: "It's surreal because I just do diving because I love doing it. For people to vote for me like this is great and I want to say a big thank you to everyone who voted."

Tom gained huge support from across the UK when he appeared at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, and won a Bronze medal in the 10-metre Platform diving, but finds it hard to think of himself as a sex symbol.

He added: "I don't think of myself as a hunk. I just think of myself as a normal person who still goes to school, who still has to train 30 hours a week and who just gets on with life."

Heat's editor Lucie Cave added: "I'm delighted that the official hottest man on planet earth is not only British but also wears Speedos for a living. heat readers have once again shown that they have faultless taste."

Other stars to make the top ten included One Direction star Harry Styles, who came sixth, beating bandmate Zayn Malik, who was at eighth, as well as housewife's favourite Olly Murs, in ninth position.
