Nicki Minaj is looking for the "right movie" for her big screen debut.

The 'Pound the Alarm' rapper wants to star in a film - and has even hired a movie agent - but is waiting for the right project to come along.

Speaking to the New York Post newspaper at Elton John's Oscars party on Sunday (24.02.13), she said: "I would love to act, it just has to be the right project, the right movie.

"I have an agent, and we are looking at a couple of scripts, so we'll see."

However, the 30-year-old music star is adamant she won't follow in the footsteps of singers such as Beyonce, Christina Aguilera and fellow 'American Idol' judge Mariah Carey by playing a "stereotypical" role as a musician.

She added: "It won't be nothing stereotypical about a singer."

Mariah's 2001 film 'Glitter' about an aspiring singer was critically panned, as was Christina's 'Burlesque'.

However, Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson had better luck in Oscar-nominated musical 'Dreamgirls', for which Jennifer won the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award, and Whitney Houston also won numerous accolades for her role in 'The Bodyguard'.

Despite their explosive arguments on 'American Idol' earlier in the season, Nicki added she and Mariah, 42, are getting on much better now.

She said: "All of that has been talked about. We had our differences, but it is all done with now, and we just get in there and do our job."
