Lindsay Lohan is moving to New York City after rehab.

The troubled actress' mother, Dina Lohan, insists rumours the 'Mean Girls' star will return to her childhood home on Long Island, New York, after she completes her 90-day court-ordered stint in rehab are unfounded and she will instead be setting up home in New York City.

Dina told E! News: "Lindsay is 27, my kids all have their own places. She's not going to move back home. She'll be getting an apartment in New York. She'll be in New York. It's great because [her sister Ali] is in New York with Wilhelmina models.

"[My son] Michael is in New York. My other little guy [Dakota] is 17 and he's still at home and going to St. Anthony's. The rest may come home to mom, but they don't want to live with me."

Dina also said she is thrilled chat show legend Oprah Winfrey has agreed to film an eight-part series which will chronicle Lindsay's career and hopefully help restore her reputation once she leaves her California-based rehab.

She gushed: "Oh, it's fantastic. If anyone is going to help mentor you, it's going to be Oprah."

It also seems likely fans will be getting an insight into the Lohan family's headline-hitting lifestyle.

Quizzed about whether she would be appearing on the show, Dina said: "Possibly! It's about family... and I'm family."

The 50-year-old star is confident Lindsay is making good progress in beating her addictions, despite sources claiming the redhead has been advised to extend her stay in rehab.

She insisted: "She's happy, she's healthy and she's amazing. She's doing really well."
