Sandra Bullock always played a "dirty gypsy child" in her mother's operas when she was growing up.
The 48-year-old actress regularly accompanied her singer mum Helga Mathilde Meyer on her European opera tours and, although she couldn't sing, Sandra would often make it on to the stage as a poor character.

She revealed: "I was raised in a household of musicians, opera singers between Europe and the States and you know when you embark on a craft you either commit to the craft and you work hard or you don't do it. I didn't really sing. There was always a dirty gypsy child in every opera if you look, there was always one, and that was always me."
Sandra - whose father was John W. Bullock, an employee of the US Army and part-time voice coach - admits she loved being on tour with her German-born mother.
The Oscar winner - who took her three-year-old son Louis with her on her promotional tour for new movie 'The Heat' - says life backstage at the opera and on the road was a "fantasy" existence.
During an appearance on UK TV show 'Daybreak', she explained: "To me it was just life, I got to hang out backstage with the seamstress or the make-up artist. It was fantasy, the little kid where it was make believe constantly happening and my mother was this gorgeous singer who just worked very hard and it was just our way of life."
