Ian Ziering finds it "torture" being away from his children

The 'Sharknado 2' star - who plays Fin Shepherd in the upcoming TV movie - admits he hates leaving his two daughters, Mia, three, and Penna, 14 months, whom he has with his second wife Erin Kristine Ludwig, when he goes away to work on projects

He explained: "Being able to share these experiences with my family makes it even more the worth while. It's tough when I'm away from them though and it hurts.

"That's the sacrifice you have to make as a family and provider. This is what I do for a living, you know. I've always wanted a family and now that I have one, to be away working is like torture."

However, the 50-year-old hunk believes his hard work will pay off eventually as he'll be able to spend more time with them and his wife in the future.

He said: "It's not so often that they're able to travel with me. But I'm working hard now and hopefully what I'm doing now will enable me to spend more quality time with them later."

Meanwhile, Ian - who began acting at the age of just 12 years old and became well known later in life for his role in 'Beverly Hills 90210' in 1990 - isn't sure if he'll want his daughters to follow in his footsteps and have a showbiz career but he insists he'll be supportive of whatever they want to achieve in life.

He told BANG Showbiz: "I'd like them to do whatever they want to do. I'd be supported of whatever goals they're hoping to achieve."

'Sharknado 2: The Second One' airs Thursday 31 July at 9pm on Syfy.
