Rihanna and Drake partied together in New York City

The on-again, off-again couple, who were rumoured to have split in May, were spotted flirting and whispering in each other's ears at The Griffin nightclub in the Meatpacking District.

An eyewitness told gossip website TMZ.com that the duo spent almost two hours in deep conversation inside the venue before leaving 10 minutes apart at 3am.

Their night out comes one month after the 'Hold On, We're Going Home' hitmaker, 27, hinted he was still casually dating the 'Right Now' singer, 26.

Asked if he was inspired to write new music because he was "a bachelor again," the Canadian star said: "Well, um, actually, my status hasn't changed, just to clear that up, you know, I've always just been out here coasting."

Drake, who also dated the Barbados-born beauty in 2009, was reportedly devastated when Rihanna dumped him after a series of arguments following their reunion in February.

A source said at the time: "She gave him his marching orders and he's destroyed."

But another insider predicted they could get back together again, saying: "Rihanna and Drake had another fight. He is too in love with her, which has always been the problem. They have been fighting, but that could all change any day now. It is how it always is with them."
