Paula Patton has filed for divorce from Robin Thicke.

The 38-year-old actress, who split from the 'Blurred Lines' hitmaker in February after nine years of marriage, is seeking joint legal and physical custody of their four-year-old son, Julian.

A source told gossip website TMZ.com that the former couple's split is "harmonious" and there are no real issues that will cause conflict in court.

The 37-year-old singer previously vowed to win Paula back and penned his latest album, 'Paula,' about her, following rumours he cheated on her.

He previously said: "My music is my therapy. When I make these songs and I listen back to them, they make me feel good about myself because at least I'm admitting my faults, I'm trying to become a better man and better person.

"This album is dedicated to her, but half of it is about my problems and me getting certain things together so I can be the kind of man that I wanted to be."

However, the 'About Last Night' actress recently started dating musician Zak Waters, 27, and a source close to Robin revealed in July that he was "done begging" his estranged wife for a second chance.

The duo put their former marital home in Los Angeles, which Robin's father Alan Thicke gave them as a wedding present in 2005, on the market for almost $3 million over the summer.
