Celebrity tattoo artist Cally-Jo Pothecary was surprised at how "down-to-earth" Rihanna is.

The 24-year-old fine art graduate-turned tattooist to the stars was summoned to the Dominican Republic by the 'What Now' hitmaker earlier this year and was shocked by how welcoming the superstar was.

She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "Rihanna was amazing to work with, I love how down-to-earth she is. She's really not what you would expect from a celebrity, she is just so relaxed and nice."

Cally-Jo was also lucky enough to collaborate with artist Bang-Bang for the design process of Rihanna's famous hand tattoo.

She explained: "She wanted a cover up on her hand and she definitely wanted something henna inspired, so we looked at lots and lots of different henna patterns and styles and drew it on a few different times and a few ways and finally settled on the style."

Known to be one of the most painful places to get inked, she was relieved that the 'Diamond' singer handled it so well.

The tattoo artist said: "She was great, and the hand is a really painful area, so I was actually quite surprised how she took it because I actually squirmed when I had my hand done, she was absolutely brilliant."

Cally-Jo also confessed she would love the opportunity to tattoo 'Drunk In Love' singer Beyonce, praising her as "incredibly talented".

Cally-Jo has teamed up with colleague Lal Hardy to design the Limited Edition tattooed HTC One (M8) ahead of Tuesdany nights 2014 MOBO Awards. HTC is the lead sponsor of MOBO for the third year running. HTC is also proud to support the Best Newcomer Award, helping foster new up and coming talent in the music industry.
