Harry Styles is too embarrassed to wear a disguise.

The One Direction heartthrob admits it's difficult for him and bandmates Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik to go unrecognised when they're trying to enjoy a day off, but says "it's not worth" dressing up like someone else.

He said: "The thing with a disguise is that it's far too embarrassing if someone catches you wearing a disguise. It's not worth wearing a disguise. 'Is that you yeah? Why are you wearing a mustache?' "

The 20-year-old star admits he doesn't have much of his own facial hair to play with and has been trying to grow a mustache "for 20 years."

Asked if there is anywhere in the world they can walk down the street unnoticed, he said: "I mean we do that everywhere. I think people think we're like crabs and stay in and just come out for work, but we do [go out]."

The 'Steal My Girl' hitmaker is rumoured to be repairing his friendship with ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift, but laughed off suggestions he sent her 1,989 red roses after she released her new album, '1989,' which includes several tracks about him.

He told 'The Ellen Degeneres Show': "I know about the rumour. I don't know anything about the roses. I think it might have been someone else and I may have falsely taken [the credit]."

The former couple split in January 2013 after getting into a nasty argument while on holiday in the British Virgin Islands.
