Sam Smith is planning to be dumped.

The 'Money on My Mind' hitmaker - who confirmed he had started dating - is already hoping the relationship ends so he can find inspiration for his new album.

He told MTV News: "I’m just going to try to fall in love and make them dump me so I can write another record.

"I always thought I would wait [to write new songs], because I’ve got a long time to go before I’m even going to think of releasing, but I’ve already started writing some songs and have some ideas and stuff."

Earlier, the 22-year-old singer revealed that he had started dating Jonathan, an extra in his music video.

Speaking of his new man, he said: "It's very early days. I'm talking very, very, very early days.

"But he's really sweet. I met him on the video for 'Like I Can', he was one of 20 extras."

The 'Stay With Me' hitmaker revealed that the relationship was in its early stages, admitting that the pair hadn't even made it official.

He explained: "It's a surreal thing to be talking about because I haven't even confirmed with him that we're officially seeing each other."

Sam also revealed he had already started work on his second album, which follows his critically-acclaimed debut LP, 'In The Lonely Hour'.

He said: "I've already come up with the title, the concept, the artwork, everything.

"I'm already recording really rough demos on the road."
