Justin Bieber has been buying meals for strangers.

The 'Boyfriend' hitmaker - who has previously caused controversy with his wild parties, egging of a neighbour's house and arrests for driving offenses - has reportedly undergone a "radical change" in recent months and has been showing his "polite, respectful and extremely generous" side.

According to insiders, this included him randomly buying the food of diners behind him in a line at a restaurant and treating two men to their dinner at Los Angeles eatery Mozza on Sunday because they moved to the bar area so he and his pals could have a table at the fully-booked establishment.

One source told TMZ: "The person I knew is back."

It was recently revealed Justin's 21st birthday will be marked by a Comedy Central Roast and the 'Beauty and a Beat' hitmaker reportedly sees the show - which will see a number of famous faces poke fun at him and his antics - as a form of "therapy".

The Canadian superstar is said to think the show will mark the end of a chapter in his life where he messed up and he will be able to take the ribbing and move on as a "real adult".

The 'All That Matters' hitmaker recently joked he has "worked hard" on providing enough material for the TV special.

He tweeted: "For years I have wanted Comedy Central to roast me. They said only if I provided them w/ more material so for a year now I have worked hard ... Finally after all that hard work for my 21st bday it's happening. Thanks @RyanSeacrest & @ComedyCentral for the announcement. Let's do it :) ... Lol. #BieberRoast (sic)"

Justin reaches the milestone age on March 1 and the Comedy Central roast will be filmed on March 7 airing later in the month.
