Jennifer Aniston's sleep was disrupted when she had to stop exercising for her role in 'Cake'.

The 45-year-old actress had to ditch her fitness regime to accurately portray character Claire Simmons - a woman recovering from an accident who becomes obsessed by the suicide of another woman in her chronic pain support group - in the movie and although she enjoyed the break at first, the lack of exercise started to affect her well being.

Speaking on the red carpet at the Screen Actors Guild Awards - at which she was nominated for the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for 'Cake' - she said: "I didn't exercise for a couple months and it helped with your mood, the physical and all of that ... At first I was thrilled, because I said, 'This will be so great, I don't have to work out.' But after a few weeks it really does start to affect your sleep, your stamina throughout the day and your mood."

Jennifer hopes she won't have to take a hiatus from exercise again because being active makes her feel healthy and energised.

She added: "We take for granted how important [exercise] is and why we do it."

The former 'Friends' star was accompanied to the SAG ceremony, which took place at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Sunday (25.01.15), by her fiancée Justin Theroux and she turned heads in her bronze Galliano gown which showed off her décolletage.

However, Jennifer didn't take home the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role trophy, losing out to Julianne Moore for her performance in 'Still Alice' in the category.
