Taylor Swift smiles in her sleep because she has anxiety dreams that she's being photographed.

The 'Style' hitmaker has admitted her life is "peppered with anxiety" both when she is awake and asleep and she is constantly dogged by nightmares that a photographer is stood inside her room taking pictures of her.

She said: "Oh my God, yes, anxiety dreams, and also my reality, even when I'm not dreaming, is peppered with lots of anxiety.

"There's a dream that, any time I'm paparazzied out, which is a lot, I have dreams that night that they're in my room taking pictures of me while I'm sleeping! So I'll find myself smiling in my sleep, because I think there are people in my room taking pictures of me. Not smiling because I'm happy, smiling because I think people are taking pictures of me!"

Taylor will be rooting for her pals Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith at tomorrow night's (25.02.15) BRIT Awards - where she will also perform - but joked if the pair had to literally fight it out for prizes then the flame-haired star would prevail.

Speaking to Dave Berry on the Capital Breakfast show, she added: "Ed could beat anyone in a fight, just because he's like a little street urchin!

"But only sensitive when writing songs, but in a conversation about competition or anything - scrappy!

"If we're talking about the BRITs it's Sam's year, he's having an amazing year, I love him. Ed's one of my best friends so I want him to win something too. I think they're both gonna win stuff right?!"
