Justin Bieber doesn't want a girlfriend

The 'Believe' hitmaker - whose on/off relationship with Selena Gomez ended last October - is focusing on improving himself rather than being with someone else, but when he is ready for love again, he wants a girl he can rely on.

He said: "At this point in my life I'm so focused on myself that I'm not looking for a girlfriend. I'm just trying to make sure I'm 100 percent so I can add to the person I want to be with. I want a girl I can trust, who I can lean on. This business is hard, and I want someone I can confide in."

The 21-year-old singer recently apologised for his wild antics - which included police being called to a number of parties, being arrested for driving offences and egging a neighbour's house - and he has now admitted his defiant behaviour affected his relationships with both his mother Pattie Mallette and his manager and mentor Scooter Braun.

He told USA Today newspaper: "Of course, [my mom and I] lost our relationship for awhile. She couldn't really tell me anything; she would try, but I wasn't listening to anybody and that sort of sucked. But our relationship is getting better now; we're getting it back.

"Scooter is in the picture, yeah. We also were on some weird terms, too, but now we're back 100 percent."

As part of his mission to mend his reputation, the 'Boyfriend' singer has ditched a number of his old friends in favour of more positive influences.

He said: "I left a lot of people behind who weren't on the same journey I was on, and I've got a lot of new people in my life who are pouring into me, and not taking away from me."

And Justin believes it is clear to tell he has turned a corner because his eyes have changed.

Asked what the biggest change in him is, he said: "Well, my eyes. You know how you can tell a person by their eyes, their intentions and where they're at? Well, my eyes changed, they got softer and brighter. They're open. I have more of a grasp of who I am at this point."
