Melissa Rivers needs answers about Joan Rivers' death

The 47-year-old producer claims she is only suing the New York City clinic where her 81-year-old mother died following complications from an endoscopic procedure last September because she fears she might never know what really went wrong otherwise.

She said: "We live in this weird time where to find out what really happened, you have to sue, otherwise nobody is going to turn over records. I want to find out what happened. I need to know, I need answers. You have no choice but to sue."

Melissa is still furious with Joan's medical team, who she has accused of being incompetent, and wishes the lawsuit was behind her.

She told the 'Wendy Williams Show': "I'm angry. Parts of me wants answers right now, but there is a process and you have to sort of just grit your teeth and hang on for the process and realise you cannot make it go any faster."

Meanwhile, Melissa still isn't sure who will replace Kathy Griffin and Kelly Osbourne on the next series of 'Fashion Police' when it returns to E! later this year.

She said: "We don't know, we've just started discussions."

The pair quit the show after their co-host Giuliana Rancic's controversial comments about Disney star Zendaya Coleman, who she said looked like she smelled "like pachouli oil, or maybe weed" at the Oscars.

Asked if Khloé Kardashian or Kimora Lee Simmons could be joining the show, she added: "All of your suggestions are on all of our lists, you're dead on. I don't know who it's going to be, but right now... we're slowly starting to figure out what would work."
