Jason Segel taking a step back from the spotlight

The 35-year-old actor admits he has cut back on social media and recently moved to Santa Barbara, California in a bid to focus on looking for acting roles he really cares about.

He said: "I was ready to live off-campus. Get off the hamster wheel."

The 'Sex Tape' star, usually known for his comedy work, takes on his most serious role to date in his upcoming film 'The End of the Tour,' in which he plays writer David Foster Wallace.

He explained to America's Vogue magazine: "I wanted to do something that moved me."

The 'Muppets' star - who was romantically linked to photographer Alexis Mixter earlier this year, previously dated actresses Bojana Novakovic and Michelle Williams and was in a relationship with his 'Freaks and Geeks' co-star Linda Cardellini for five years - has previously insisted he is not in a hurry to settle down, but admitted he would marry quickly if he felt he had met the right person.

He said recently: "For me it's much more about meeting the right person.

I don't have that thing that women have -- 'I've gotta be married by the time I'm 33, gotta have a kid by the time I'm 35.' Let's see where life takes me, y'know? If I met the girl, I'd marry her tomorrow."
