Johnny Depp fell for Amber Heard because she loves blues music.

The 'Black Mass' actor - who married the 29-year-old actress earlier this year after meeting on the set of 'The Rum Diary' - feels very "lucky" to have found someone who shares so many of his interests.

He gushed: "We connect on a lot of levels but the first thing that really got me was she's an aficionado of the blues. I would play a song, some old obscure blues song and she knew what it was.

"She's very, very literate. She's a voracious reader, as I have been, so we connected on that as well. And she's kind of brilliant.

    "I'm a lucky man."

The 52-year-old actor - who has children Lily-Rose, 16 and Jack, 12, with former partner Vanessa Paradis - also believes both he and his wife were "supposed to be in a different time" so he thinks her latest role, in the 1920s-set 'The Danish Girl' was "perfect" for Amber.

He told E! News: "It's a very beautiful movie and I'm very proud of her. She worked very hard.

"It looks like where she belongs. I always felt like I was supposed to be in a different time and I kind of felt that way about her the first time I saw her. So it looks right and perfect for her."
