Cindy Crawford is "embracing" turning 50.

The supermodel will celebrate the milestone birthday next February and insists she is happy to age gracefully.

She told PEOPLE magazine: "Women like Helen Mirren and Jane Fonda, they look amazing and they look appropriate. They look amazing but they're not trying to look 30. I don't want to be trying to compete with my 14-year-old daughter [Kaia Gerber] – because I would lose!

"I always thought, 'When can I just let it all go?' It's just never. There is no age now! It was the aspect of embracing turning 50 and celebrating the past, but at the same time I am embracing where I am."

Meanwhile, the 49-year-old beauty previously praised her children - Kaia, 14 and Presley, 16 - for making her feel at ease with ageing.

She shared: "I do and I'm really jealous. No, I'm joking. I always tease her, 'You have my old legs. Give them back ... What do they say? Youth is wasted on the young.

"I think honestly I am probably the hardest on myself. It's beautiful as a mother to watch your children grow up and become whoever they're going to be and I think that makes it easier for me to watch myself also getting older.
