Miranda Lambert still carries the scars following her split from Blake Shelton.

Country music’s hottest couple called time on their marriage last year after four years as husband and wife.

But as she performed during an unplugged performance at Nashville’s City Winery on Wednesday night the 20.01.16, Miranda admitted her marriage breakdown will continue to have a lasting effect on her.

Before performing a song written by her band member Scotty Wray, Miranda admitted: “So this song, I don't know if I can do it without crying. Scotty Wray has been with me since I was 17. For a long time he was my band. We have been through everything together, good and bad. We both went through a really s***ty 2015 and we have the tattoos to prove it. He wrote a song a long time ago called 'Scars.' I never felt like I could sing it 'til now."

Miranda was joined by her songwriting pals Ashley Monroe, Nicolle Galyon and Shane McAnally for the intimate gig.

Explaining the set-up for the performance, Miranda told the crowd: “So this is how we do it when we write together, though tonight is better hair, more make-up, fancier clothes and more expensive wine.

"A month or so ago I asked my friends, 'Do you want to play City Winery with me?' What they heard was wine, and they were excited it wasn't going to be box wine. But you know how it is some nights. You finish the good wine and then move to the box. You start expensive and when you run out of that, you go cheap. I'm not talking about husbands, I swear!”

Following their split, Blake is now dating Gwen Stefani, while Miranda is in a relationship with musician Anderson East.
