Peter Serafinowicz has been cast in 'The Tick'.
According to Deadline, the 43-year-old British actor has been cast as the titular superhero in a new Amazon pilot - which is based on Ben Edlund's New England comic book character, first published in 1986.
26 March 2016
Edlund will be working as the main writer and ex ecutive producer on the project. He previously worked on the 2001 Fox series - which starred Patrick Warburton in the blue-suited lead role - and the 1994 animated series.
The plot for the pilot will focus on Serafinowicz's Tick as the superhero recovers from memory loss and then ends up teaming up with his sidekick Arthur - who will be played by Griffin Newman - to fight villains.
Other confirmed castings include Valorie Curry who will play Arthur's sister Dot.
'Transcendence' director Wally Pfister is to take control of the pilot.
This is not the first comic book project Serafinowicz has been involved with as he portrayed Denarian Saal in Marvel Studios' 'Guardians of the Galaxy'.
His other notable big screen roles include appearances in 'Shaun of the Dead', 'Couples Retreat' and 'Run Fatboy Run', while he was responsible for providing the voice for Sith Lord Darth Maul in 'Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace'.
Fox's adaptation of 'The Tick' only ran for nine episodes but achieved critical acclaim and achieved cult status.
