Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift will go to the Met Ball "together" on Monday night 01.05.16.

The pop superstars are "best friends" and the 'Good For You' hitmaker revealed they intend to make the swanky annual bash, which takes place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, a girls night out.

Selena told Access Hollywood: “We are going together. It’s so fun. It’s gonna be the best. It’s kind of prom for fashion”.

Last year the prestigious event – which is formally known as the Costume Institute Gala – was attended by the likes of Selena's ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber, her friends Kendall Jenner and Gigi and Bella Hadid, and a galaxy of other stars of the fashion and music world, such as Lorde, Beyonce and Jay Z, Rita Ora, Rihanna, Cara Delevingne and Olivier Rousteing.

This year, it will be sponsored by tech giant Apple and the theme of the gala is ‘Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology’.

Meanwhile, there's a chance the friends will bump into Selena's former flame on Monday but it's unlikely the 23-year-old star – who is currently single – will take any notice, as she'll be concentrating on having a good time with her long-term pal.

Speaking about their relationship, she previously said: "We met when she was 18. I was 15 or 16. She was so great to me. Then we became best friends. She would fly out to see me when I was going through something really hard. We'd eat a lot of fattening food and vent.
