    Brody Jenner has got engaged.

The former 'Hills' star - who is the son of Caitlyn Jenner and her ex-wife Linda Thompson - "couldn't be more in love" with Kaitlynn Carter and is overjoyed she has agreed to be his wife.

He shared a picture on Instagram featuring a bikini-clad Kaitlynn kissing him on the cheek while on vacation and wrote: "On May 4th 2016 I got engaged to my lover and best-friend.

"I couldn't be more in love with this woman and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with her."

The 32-year-old star's new fiancee also shared a similar picture and admitted she was the "happiest girl in the world" following Brody's proposal.

She wrote: "This trip has been memorable for many reasons ... happiest girl in the world!!! (sic)"

Brody and Kaitlynn have been together since 2014 and their relationship has previously caused a family fall-out, as he refused to attend step-sister Kim Kardashian West's wedding to Kanye West in Paris, France in May 2014, reportedly because his partner wasn't invited.

Though he insisted at the time he didn't go because it was short notice and he'd only ever spoken to the 'All Day' hitmaker once, it was later suggested he was annoyed at not being given a plus one.

And in a dig several months afterwards, he shared an Instagram photo of himself and Kaitlynn with the caption: "Look...@Kaitlynn_Carter and I finally got to go to a wedding together!!! (sic)"

And while the 'Sex With Brody' star got invited to Kim and Kanye's wedding, it seems unlikely he'll be returning the favour as he recently insisted he "doesn't know" the rapper and doesn't count the brunette beauty as family since her mother Kris Jenner divorced Caitlyn.

He said recently: "I don't see them very often. I live out in Malibu, they live in Calabasas. To be honest, I don't even really know Kanye that well at all. I've really only met him one time.

"That's the one thing that people don't really understand is that we live two completely separate lives. And everybody ties us in together as the Kardashians and the Jenners. I mean, [Kris and Caitlyn] got a divorce, so they're not even technically my family anymore."
