Louis Tomlinson has filed for joint custody of his son.

The One Direction singer became a father in January after former fling Briana Jungwirth gave birth to their son Freddie Reign and he has filed for legal and physical custody of the baby after Briana started being "inconsistent in giving Louis access", TMZ reports.

Louis, 24 and Briana had reached a temporary custody agreement in February, which allowed him to see Freddie for several hours at a time with no overnight visits but Louis wants to have more access to the five-month-old tot.

He has also asked that he and Briana get equal time with their son, who currently lives with Briana in a rented $1 million home in Calabasas paid for by Louis.

The singer also reportedly currently provides Briana with $15,000 a month but this figure could change when their case goes before a judge.

It was previously claimed that Louis had been banned from picking up his son from his house after his relationship with Briana reached "rock bottom".

A source said: "Their relationship has hit rock bottom. He is not welcome at Briana or her family's homes anymore. Things are strained. Now he's picking up his son in a car park."

It had been alleged that Briana has "gotten greedy" and has been demanding more money, preventing Louis from visiting Freddie and using the tot to land a better deal and she was also furious that he showed up to collect Freddie with his girlfriend Danielle Campbell in tow.

Briana's cousin, Ashley Jessica, recently admitted Louis and Danielle's relationship - which began while Briana was pregnant - had "hurt" their family.

She said: "Yes, it did hurt us. But life is life. I mean feelings are feelings and you can't help that. You love who you love - it's just bad timing."
