Lady Gaga has become a godmother.

The 'Applause' hitmaker was named as one of the three godparents - an individual chosen to take an interest in the spiritual welfare of a child - of her friends' Brian and Angie's little daughter Sistilia.

Taking to her Instagram account on Monday , she uploaded a photograph of her holding the little one at the ceremony alongside the caption: "So proud to be made one of the Godmother's of our little angel Sistilia (sic)."

The 30-year-old singer - who is also godmother to Sir Elton John and David Furnish's sons Zachary, five, and Elijah, three - attended the Italian-themed ceremony in Brooklyn, New York, on Sunday and certainly looked the part in her white ensemble and floral headpiece.

She said: "@briannewmanny and his Wife Angie have been my friends since we were kids on the lower east side. It was a beautiful baptism and Italian style feast. We love u sissy! (sic)."

Meanwhile, Gaga's new responsibility has come along at the right time as she's currently trying to come to terms with her split from Taylor Kinney, 35, after they decided to take a break.

However, despite their separation, the blonde beauty is adamant they couple - who got engaged in February 2015 - aren't over for good and are hoping a short break to focus on their respective careers will mend their romance.

She said recently: "Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates. Just like all couples we have ups and downs, and we have been taking a break.

"We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared. Please root us on. We're just like everybody else and we really love each other."
