Drew Barrymore had a great time working with her sister-in-law on her TV show.

The 41-year-old actress is a guest star on 'Odd Mom Out', which was created by Jill Kargman - the sister of Drew's estranged husband Will Kopelman - and showed herself to be a "comic genius" in her turn as irreverent neighbour Meredith.

Jill told People magazine: "I loved the idea of working together.

"She surpassed all expectations, she's a comic genius in this episode.

"I asked her - she read the script and loved it so I was over the moon.

"It was great. She's such a pro and the coolest part is even though she's dove out of planes in $100 million movies she was just as hard working on our scrappy set! The whole crew was enamored by her sweetness and blown away by her comedic chops."

Drew showed she was still close to Will's family a month after they separated in May as she opted to spend Mother's Day the following month with Jill, her mother Coco and her own daughters, Olive, three, and Frankie, two.

When the couple announced that they were separating, Drew and Will insisted it didn't make them any less of a family.

They said in a statement: "Sadly, our family is separating legally, although we do not feel this takes away from us being a family.

"Divorce might make one feel like a failure, but eventually you start to find grace in the idea that life goes on."

But Drew called the breakdown of their marriage "shameful" and admitted it made her feel like a failure.

She said: "I put in my statement, about [our] divorce, the word 'failure,' because it's so honest.

"When you break up with somebody, you're like, 'Yeah, that didn't work,' [but] when you get divorced you're like, 'I'm the biggest failure. This is the biggest failure'.

"It's so shameful and hard to actually go through that, even privately.

"It's a tough time. It's a hard thing to go through. It's like your being put on a cheese grater and every second, going, 'Ah! This wasn't the plan!' "
